Welcome for Malls proposals from Lib Dems

Councillor John Shaw has welcomed the Council decision to buy the rest of The Malls from a developer. Councillor Shaw said:
"I'm glad to have been part of the previous administration which set aside the money for the re-development of the Malls."
"It no secret that the Council and part owners of the Malls haven't always seen eye to eye on its future. Disagreement had slowed progress down for several years. By buying their stake in the Malls, the Council will be able to get the full benefit from the investment the Council is making in re-vamping that part of Basingstoke Town Centre."
"I am confident that this decision is right for the Council and good news for the residents."
