Eastrop ward councillors, Stuart Parker and Gavin James, have urged officers

to refuse a planning application to turn the former Webber's garage site into an

old peoples home. This is the second time this developer has submitted plans.

Refusal last time didn't stop the developer hoping to cram 94 flats on to the

site.

Councillors felt that the developer hasn't put enough thought into the design or

access to the site. Cllr Parker described the proposed development as "too

bulky, too high and poorly designed, especially where the site faces New

Road".
