We want our buses back
We got our buses back!

Congratulations to South Ham residents. Their campaign to improve their bus services has been successful. Stagecoach has agreed to revise the Jazz 3 and Jazz 4 and the new services will start on 25th July 2010.

Following the cuts, residents raised a petition to restore the services back to the 2009 schedules. They asked County Councilor Ron Hussey to lobby the County Council Transport officers, the Borough Council and Stagecoach on their behalf.

Residents wanted the Jazz 3 route to return to running along Pinkerton Road and the Jazz 4 service to revert to an hourly service.

Their campaign has persuaded Stagecoach and the County Council to make some changes. The Jazz 3 service will now turn into Pinkerton Road from Western Way and then proceed via Stag Hill to the Berg estate and then back to Pinkerton Road.

The Jazz 4 route will remain as is but will have 2 extra morning buses on week days to make it an hourly service. This will help residents who want to shop at Morrison's supermarket. The Borough Council has agreed to fund these additional buses.

Responding to the news, councillor Hussey said, "I really wanted to see the services restored to last year's routes and timetables, but as the Jazz 4 service runs at a loss, the Council said it could not afford to fund a completely restored service. However I'm delighted for residents that improved services have been agreed."
