Salt Bin Blues

Blue Grit Bins instead of the standard yellow?

The County Council has received requests for 1000 new salt bins across Hampshire. Officers are now assessing them and the logistics of keeping them filled with salt/grit.

Residents will no doubt welcome additional bins, especially if next winter is as bad as the last one.

But don't expect to see the familiar yellow plastic containers anymore. We understand that the Tory portfolio holder wants blue ones! Does this mean all the existing yellow ones will be replaced too? And will Council Tax payers have to foot the bill? That really would be rubbing salt into the wound.

"With cuts to services looming, according to the County Council Tory leader Ken Thornber, you'd think that Hampshire's Tories would be concentrating on more important issues", reports councillor Brian Gurden
