Lib Dem councillor Gavin James promised to campaign for a free to access out door gym.

Gavin ready to cycle

Working with the Lib Dem councillors in Grove, he managed to get funding from developers to purchase some equipment which has now been installed at the War Memorial Park. The park is already popular with joggers and the new gym will inspire more people to keep fit and enjoy the park.

Hopefully we can add a few more features when we can secure more funds. People often talk about an Olympic legacy and I think outdoor gyms would be a good way to achieve that so I will keep an eye out for more money.

Lib Dems are proud that their campaign has lead to the first out door gym in Basingstoke and Deane, it is already proving popular so we may see more appear across the town. Lib Dems are aware that these gyms will attract a variety of users and will look to only build them where they will benefit the community without disturbing residents.
