Dangerous Kingsclere Road Junction

Kingsclere road sign leading to junction with A339

The A339 in Kingsclere is a notorious danger zone that Hampshire County Council under Conservative control have done nothing about.

Nearly half of all road accidents on the A339 between Basingstoke and the border with West Berkshire happen in Kingsclere. According to Department of Transport figures, there were 52 collisions on that stretch from 2019 to 2023, of which 23 were in Kingsclere. Twelve people suffered serious injuries but thankfully there were no fatalities in that period.

The main danger areas, well known to locals, are the staggered junction with Little Knowle Hill and Newbury Road towards The Star. Hampshire's record on road maintenance has been awful, but it's not just potholes causing damage to cars that are the problem. They haven't done anything about basic road safety either.

The LibDems want to fix this Kingsclere accident hotspot. If we take control of the County Council in the elections next year, we will push to make improvements that could save lives.
