Brighton Hill - Action on Illegal Sites

action on illegal sites

As soon as travellers invaded Brighton Hill playing fields and set up an illegal camp, a resident asked for our help. Kevin Harkess immediately notified the Council, sent in a photograph as evidence, and asked for them to be moved on as quickly as possible.

Within hours more caravans arrived. Kevin also pressed officers to install a defensive barrier as soon as the travellers moved on to prevent them returning. Officers have had a soil bund installed.

However, Kevin Harkess has already told officers that the gap left for grass mowers access will not prevent stop caravans.

"A similar bund at the Viables Craft Centre has already been breached by travellers," said Kevin. "The wooden posts protecting the gap need to be much more substantial."
