London Liberal Democrat MEP Sarah Ludford yesterday visited North London Business to discuss their work and in particular the opportunities that their 'Exporting Success' programme supported by EU funds is bringing to local businesses.
North London Business is the agency for business development in Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest and also works in other north London boroughs. It supports local businesses and promotes investment in north London.
Sarah Ludford commented: "Their 'Exporting Success' scheme which advises small firms seeking to sell products and services abroad, is partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund. This is an example of how money from Europe can directly assist the creation of jobs in this area."
"Smaller firms may hesitate to explore foreign markets as too complicated.. This programme gives them the information on European markets and confidence they need to grow through exports to neighbouring countries."
"Liberal Democrats in Europe are launching a campaign to make EU business rules simpler. We are calling for a 'springclean' to get rid of outdated laws and a simplification of accounting rules. I look forward to working closely with North London Business and its clients to ensure that everything is done to facilitate future growth of firms to create jobs in this area. Not everything in London happens in the centre!"
